These watches were produced for the Company Ordinance Supply Depot (COSD) of the UK Ministry of Defense (MOD). The movements with dial and hands (no case) were sourced from Longines and Omega and put into locally produced cases. Original swiss produced Longines dials will be radium. The British Navy replaced radioactive dials with crudely printed non-radio active dials. These watches are nicknamed the "Tuna Can" by collectors for their very thick case. Some watches were recased in more conventional Dennison branded steel cases later by MOD and issued to British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) pilots after the war.
