The 19A was an attempt to make a smaller and thinner automatic movement than the 22A learning from and simplifying the automatic winding mechanism of that movement and applying them to the new design. The 19A was designed based on the at the time retired 8.68N and was significantly overhauled and modernized during the design phase of the 19A.
