Calibre 260

The 260 was based on the earlier Cal. 24, designed for the planned 1940 Olympic Games, and was also a rattrapante chronograph but it's oscillation had increased to 36,000 vph making it capable of recording 1/10th of a second. In order to make the 1/10th of a second scale more readable, the seconds hand completed a rotation of the dial every 30 seconds this decision however resulted in a number of reliability issues for this calibre and servicing of this movement was restricted to Longines Headquarters in St. Imier. Additionally, spare parts were not provided to outside repairers for this calibre. This movement would ultimately be replaced with the more conventional 262 movement which returned the seconds hand to one rotation every 60 seconds.
