The 37.9ABC was designed around the same time as the 37.9 and 37.9M and was part of a scheme to make the same basic movement architecture, using mostly the same tooling but at three different thicknesses. ABC means "abaissé", thinner in French. Also referred to as 17L usually in the postwar American market.
